The Benefits of Smoking Ox Smoking allows you to go outside to smoke and think about it, leaves the stress, clears your head and puts you in a different environment. Here are some of the benefits of smoking: combats boredom, enjoyable, copes with stressful situations, relaxes, helps focus, fights loneliness and depression and keeps weight down. Smoking is one of the ways people cope with stressful situations. Smoking allows you to go outside to smoke and think about it, leaves the stress, clears your head and puts you in a different environment. Taking a deep inhaling you take a deep breath, hold it in for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly. Taking a deep puff is like using relaxation breathing. Another benefit of smoking is that is lessens feeling of anxiety or depression. It is the nicotine in the cigarettes that makes these feelings go away and acts like an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication. After taking an inhaling, the nicotine goes to your brain where is causes a chemical reaction. This is what lessens anxiety or picks up your mood. The nicotine reaches your brain in less than seven seconds. It is one of the main reasons why nicotine is such an addictive drug. There are about 1/3 of the people who smoke suffer from depression and/or anxiety. If you smoke to deal with depression, then giving up may make you feel depressed. The stop smoking medication helps in two ways: fights depression and wards off withdrawal symptoms. One more beneficial aspect of smoking is keeping the weight down because it keeps food in your stomach longer and suppresses your appetite. Smoking burns up an extra 300 calories each day. |
